	The Assistant Stork will be closed on Friday, August 29th to go camping!
	All Embassies and The Assistant Stork will be closed on Monday, September 1st. Happy Labor Day!

*IMPORTANT NEWS*

The Assistant Stork has been assisting adoption families, adoption agencies and embassies for over 12 years, helping to bring together over 12,000 families. Our fees were originally set by the adopting parents on one of the first and now largest, adoption listserves. Only once in the past 12 years have we raised our fees, and that was 10 years ago. We are proud of that fact. However, as you can imagine, huge increases in such things as gasoline prices and insurance costs, among others, is forcing us to do something. While some folks have raised their fees or added fuel surcharges, we have decided to cut back on trips into Washington, DC. So, for at least the summer months this year, we will only be going into Washington, DC to the US Department of State and the Embassies Tuesday through Friday. We will still be in the office on Mondays, just not running around town.

We sincerely hope this schedule change will not inconvenience anyone, and we pray the gasoline price crisis will abate soon.

Our Courier Service: Our document & visa facilitation/courier service. This page tells how we get your paperwork and visas through the US Department of State and/or Embassy authentication process.

Dossier Preparation Service: Here's a list of folks who prepare dossiers for you. I used to provide this service too, but the document facilitation/courier service takes up all my time now.

My Vital Records and Secretaries of State Page: Here's a list of where to find a certified copy of your birth, marriage and divorce certificates and where to get all your paperwork "State Sealed" or "Apostilled".

Agencies for International Adoption: Here's a list of agencies. There are *TONS* more agencies than this. You really have to shop around. Get referrals from friends or ask people on the list. Don't just pick an agency out of the yellow pages.
