The Staff at the Embassy of Kazakhstan is as distressed as we are that it takes so long to process the dossiers. In order for us to make their job easier, thus quickening the process, they have given me some tips to help them prepare the dossiers.

• Do not remove the grommett from the Apostille. It will invalidate the Apostille.
• Three-hole punch the left side of the dossier. He needs three holes to sew up the dossier.
• You must include two complete photocopies of everything.

Make two complete copies of your dossier. By "complete" I mean:

• Every single word in every single document MUST show on the Xeroxes. "Cut off" or blurry words are not acceptable.
• The Xeroxes must be the same size as the originals. If your State's Apostilles are 3/4 page, your Xerox must be the same size. If your county seals are 3" high, your Xerox of that seal must be the same size.
• If documents are 2-sided, it is preferred that the Xerox also be 2-sided. If this is not possible, be sure that you have a Xerox for each side.

Get your dossier translated. Do not alter in any way the seal and statement from the Notary.

Make two complete copies of the translation. Attach translations to originals (if not already attached by translator). Attach Xeroxes of translations to Xeroxes of dossier.

• The translations must be attached to the back of each document
• There should be one whole set of originals with translations, and two sets of photocopies in the exact same order as the original.

Include with the dossier:

• Two Registration Letter Information Sheets, NOT notarized or Apostilled, but translated
• Two additional Xerox of the I-171H, NOT notarized or Apostilled, but translated
• One additional xerox of the homestudy, NOT notarized or Apostilled, but translated

The Registration Letter Information sheet must be typed or computer generated. No hand-written information is acceptable. They cannot read it.

Fees:

• $225 made out to "The Assistant Stork." (Personal check is fine.)
• $440 cashier's check or money order made out to "The Embassy of Kazakhstan"

Please be sure to sign the "waiver of signature" on your package if you are using the US Postal Service. I am in DC processing dossiers when the mail carrier arrives. There is a special place the mail carrier leaves the dossiers that only he or she can see from my door, not visible to the street.
